Most custom-printed ceramics look crisp on Day 1. But expose them to sunlight, repeated washing, or daily use, and within a year or two, colors turn dull, chalky, and faded.
At Showy, we do things differently. We don’t use surface-level inks or temporary coatings. Every ceramic and porcelain print we produce uses kiln-fired overglaze colors fired at extreme temperatures (~800°C / 1470°F). This process doesn’t just print on the surface, it thermally fuses inorganic mineral pigments directly into the porcelain body itself.
The result? Colors that literally cannot fade under sunlight or UV exposure.
The Showy Lifetime No-Fade Guarantee
We stand behind our process with a straightforward promise:
Our Guarantee: If your Showy kiln-fired ceramic or porcelain print ever fades over time, we will replace it free of charge.
What Is Covered
- UV Fading: Complete protection against solar degradation, dulling, or shift in color pigment over time.
- Atmospheric Aging: Discoloration caused by moisture, ambient humidity, or standard temperature fluctuations.
Terms & Exclusions
To keep our guarantee transparent and honest, please note that it specifically protects against pigment fading. It does not cover:
- Physical damage (dropping, chipping, cracking, or impact breaks).
- Surface scratches caused by abrasive cleaning pads or sharp metallic tools.
- Damage caused by exposure to corrosive industrial chemicals, strong concentrated acids, or bleach baths.
- Normal physical wear-and-tear of the protective clear coat or ceramic substrate itself.
How Kiln-Fired Overglaze Compares to Other Printing Methods
Understanding why our prints don’t fade comes down to material science. Traditional printing methods rely on organic pigments and plastic polymers that break down when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light. Kiln-fired overglaze uses inorganic metal oxides that are chemically immune to UV degradation.
Here is how Showy compares to standard industry alternatives:
| Print Technology | Upfront vs. Real Lifetime Cost | UV & Solar Durability | Expected Lifespan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Showy Kiln-Fired Overglaze | Moderate upfront — $0 replacement cost over time | 100% UV Immune (Inorganic pigments fused into ceramic) | Decades / Lifetime |
| Dye Sublimation | Cheap initially — High re-order costs as colors fade | Terrible (Degrades quickly in sunlight or bright rooms) | 1–2 Years max |
| Direct UV Printing | Mid-range — Expensive when replacing chipped items | Poor–Moderate (Sits on top like dry paint; easily scratched) | 1–3 Years |
| Plastic Prints / Vinyl Film | Very cheap upfront — Constant replacement trap | Abysmal (Peels, blisters, and cracks in heat/light) | < 1 Year |
| Laser Engraving | High setup costs — Durable, but limited to monochrome | High (No pigment involved, just etched surface) | Lifetime |
